In the end, he wins—the most famous wooden puppet in the world who has charmed generations of children and not only them. Oil colors, watercolors, and lithography are the techniques used by Massimo Pantani, who paints from his room high up in a building in the heart of San Gimignano, near the famous Piazza di Sant’Agostino.
With a bit of luck, you can enter his studio, where the bohemian atmosphere recalls the charm of nineteenth-century ateliers. The series of works he dedicates to Pinocchio was born from the desire to restyle the classic iconography of the famous puppet, with respect for tradition experienced not as a limit but as a starting point to create a new style.
The original lithographs and watercolors tell of the artist’s creativity and imagination; his works are dreamlike images that lead us through a fairytale journey, from which it is very easy to be enchanted and seduced.
